The OSU EcoCAR team consists of students who are most active in the autumn, winter, and spring quarters at Ohio State, but some students continue to work through the summer while they continue research or work their summer jobs. Some of the summer's accomplishments include:
Our Honda CNG engine is up and running on Ethanol!
There's not much to see in this video, but we're showing the dyno spinning the engine at the beginning of the video, and partway through we're running fuel into the engine and generating power to turn the dyno. You can hear the sound change.
Check back for more to come. There will be some rapid progress at CAR in order for us to develop a working vehicle by the end of the year!
Our touch screen display is working in our Hardware in the Loop (HIL) setup
We have a touch screen display configured with MotoTron Fuse (link) to display vehicle operating modes and relevant data. Many thanks to Nathan Voss, our high school intern, for the many hours he spent on the project.
We are continuing to refine our HIL and vehicle development strategies for the coming year
Our plans for the coming year continue to change as we learn more about available tools and hardware that can help us to build a successful vehicle for the competition. New equipment from ETAS, Freescale, and Vector will help us to complete our scheduled tasks in faster and more complete ways. We look forward to solving a variety of interesting problems this year with the help of new team members and our sponsors.
We have a large number of interesting projects ready the academic year to start on September 23rd. Feel free to stop by or send us an email to get involved in an influential project on campus.
